Oncologic surgery, neuroradiology, vascular surgery fellows join faculty

 

 

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Jumin Sunde, M.D.

Dr. Jumin Sunde, recently a head and neck oncologic and microvascular surgery fellow at the University of Michigan, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of otolaryngology.

After receiving his biomedical sciences degree summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama, Mobile, in 2006, Sunde earned his M.D. summa cum laude at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 2010. He had an otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency and internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences from 2010-15 and a head and neck oncologic and microvalvular surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, from 2018-19.

An active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and of the American Head and Neck Society, Sunde has given two invited presentations nationally. The author or coauthor of eight articles in peer-reviewed publications and two book chapters, Sunde’s research interests include head and neck cancer clinical outcomes.

 

Nicholas A. Turner, M.D.

Dr. Nicholas A. Turner, recently a neuroradiology fellow at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of radiology.

After receiving his B.S. from Ursinus College magna cum laude in 2009, Turner earned his M.D. at Temple University Medical School in 2013. He then completed a transitional year internship from 2013-14 and a diagnostic radiology residency from 2014-18 at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his training with a neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania from 2018-19.

An Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa inductee, Turner is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and the American College of Radiology. He is the author or coauthor of three posters presented at scientific conferences nationally.

 

Miguel Angel Villalobos Jr., M.D.

Dr. Miguel Angel Villalobos Jr., recently a vascular surgery fellow at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of surgery.

After receiving his B.S. from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, in 2005, Villalobos earned his M.D. in 2010 at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he completed a surgical internship from 2010-11 at Temple University Hospital. He continued his training in general surgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, graduating in 2017, before pursuing further fellowship training in vascular surgery at UMMC.

The author or coauthor of four articles in peer-reviewed professional publications, Villalobos has given five presentations at scientific meetings nationally. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery.
